The Calgary Police Service and Alberta Sheriffs arrested 19 people and executed 87 outstanding warrants during a two-day joint operation in Calgary's District 3, the service announced Friday.

The operation brought together members of the District 3 Community Engagement Response Team, Community Resource Officers, Patrol Officers and the Alberta Sheriffs' Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team. Officers attended 62 residences during the operation, which was planned over several weeks.

Before deployment, analytical resources prepared and reviewed approximately 130 information packages. The warrants executed covered charges including possession of dangerous weapons, drug trafficking, personation, possession of stolen property and possession of fake ID documents.

"Our continuing partnership with the Alberta Sheriffs allows us to improve community safety, by coordinating resources to hold offenders accountable, while addressing ongoing concerns within the district," said District 3 Insp. Travis Juska.

Insp. Darren Thompson of the Alberta Sheriffs FASST said strong collaboration between agencies is behind results like these. "Operations like this demonstrate what we can accomplish when the Alberta Sheriffs and our policing partners work together, share resources and use our combined expertise to locate wanted fugitives and hold offenders accountable," Thompson said.
