Medicine Hat city council will hold two consecutive public meetings Monday evening at City Hall, beginning with an organizational session at 6:30 p.m., according to the city's agenda package.

The organizational meeting will deal with appointments of council members to standing and special committees and external boards, the designation of a deputy mayor and acting mayor, and the establishment of regularly scheduled council meetings for 2027.

A recommendation before council asks that 2027 meetings be held on dates set out in the agenda attachment, at City Hall in Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m.

The regular council meeting follows immediately after and opens with a closed session covering an infrastructure funding initiative, a land matter and a legal update.

Once in open session, council will reconvene a public hearing on Bylaw 4890-2026, which proposes rezoning 22 Sierra Green SW from Neighbourhood Residential 1 to Neighbourhood Residential 2 district. First reading of the bylaw took place on Sept. 8, 2026. Council will consider second and third readings after the hearing closes.

Council will also consider approving City Manager Performance Evaluation Policy 8053-2026, sponsored by the Governance Committee.

Both meetings take place in Council Chambers at City Hall. The next regular council meeting is scheduled for Nov. 2, 2026.
