Alberta Municipalities is encouraging municipal leaders to apply for seats on one of the province's 14 Regional Health Advisory Councils, with an application deadline of Nov. 23, 2026.

The organization said in a Facebook post on Friday that Health Minister Adriana LaGrange reached out to Alberta Municipalities and the Rural Municipalities of Alberta specifically to encourage municipal leaders to apply, "recognizing the important role municipalities can play in bringing forward local health care priorities."

Alberta Municipalities wrote that over the past year it has been "steadily building relationships with Alberta's health ministries and looking for opportunities to ensure municipal perspectives are part of provincial health care discussions."

The organization said those efforts are "creating new opportunities for municipal perspectives to inform provincial health care decisions," and that the advisory council recruitment process is one such opening.

Applications for the Regional Health Advisory Councils close Nov. 23, 2026. More information is available through Alberta Municipalities at abmunis.ca.
