The City of Brooks will end regular yard waste collection for the season on Oct. 30, with a one-week fall cleanup running Nov. 2–6, weather permitting, the city said in a Facebook post on Friday.

All yard waste must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2 for the cleanup week — regardless of a household's regular collection day, the city said.

Residents are asked to use compostable paper bags or clear recycling bags rather than the standard yard waste bin, which is not accepted during the cleanup. Leaves, grass clippings, garden debris and small branches are all accepted, and bags should be placed where the yard waste bin is normally set out.

The city noted the announcement landed on a rainy day. "Well... this seems like a bad time to bring this up," the city wrote on Facebook on Friday.
