First-year students in the SAFR program at Eagle Butte High School practised hydrant operations and learned how to supply water to a fire scene this week, gaining practical experience as part of their Wildland Course.

Eagle Butte High School wrote on Facebook on Friday that the training gives students a head start before they move into their Level 1 course next year. "This training gives our first-year students a great head start as they prepare for their Level 1 course next year," the school wrote.

The school is part of Prairie Rose Public Schools.
