Edmonton Police Service said in a news release dated Oct. 8 that Denzel Dre Colton Bird, 30, is assessed as presenting a significant risk of harm to members of the community.
Bird was convicted in June 2018 of the aggravated sexual assault of a woman who was not known to him. Charges in that matter were laid by Lethbridge Police Service.
Correctional Service Canada will supervise Bird on statutory release. He is required to reside at a facility approved by Correctional Service Canada and must observe a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, with exceptions for employment, vocational or educational training, and spiritual or cultural activities if his parole supervisor agrees in writing.
Bird is also prohibited from consuming, purchasing or possessing alcohol or non-prescribed drugs, and from associating with anyone he knows or has reason to believe is involved in criminal activity, gangs or the substance abuse subculture. He must immediately report all relationships and friendships with females, and any changes to those relationships, to his parole supervisor.
Bird is described as five-foot-seven, 137 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Edmonton police said the warning is issued in the public interest and is not intended to encourage vigilante action.
Anyone with information about Bird's conduct in the community can contact Edmonton police at 780-423-4567.
