Shortly before 1 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2007, Thompson RCMP received a call about a home invasion on Yale Avenue. Officers arrived to find Carlson, 61, deceased in the hallway. An unknown suspect had broken into the residence and shot him. His wife, Elva, was also home at the time and called police; officers found her alone in a bedroom, unharmed.
The Manitoba RCMP Historic Case Unit has worked on the case across nearly two decades without making an arrest. The force chose the 19th anniversary of the killing to release the tip line.
"Even though a significant amount of time has passed, that does not mean that investigators have stopped working to find answers for the family," Cpl. Gennifer Furkalo of the Manitoba RCMP Historic Case Unit said in the release. "If anyone remembers anything suspicious, or out of place from that night — we urge them to call the tip-line."
Elva Carlson spoke ahead of the anniversary; her account can be viewed on YouTube.
