Nine Prairie Rose Students Take Top Prize at MIT Robotics Institute

Nine students from Prairie Rose School Division brought home the top prize from a robotics competition hosted at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a first for the division and a highlight for its growing STEM program.

The students travelled to MIT's Robotics Institute to compete against teams from across North America, taking top honours in a field that tested design, engineering and problem-solving under pressure. Division officials say the win reflects years of investment in hands-on STEM learning across Prairie Rose schools.

"This is an incredible achievement for our students and a testament to the hard work of our teachers and staff who support innovative programming," said Darren MacMillan, the division's Director of Strategic Programming and Innovation. He said the win puts Prairie Rose on the map nationally for robotics and technology education.

Superintendent Dr. Reagan Weeks called the students' performance a source of pride for the entire division. "Our students continue to show that rural Alberta classrooms can compete with the best in the world," Weeks said, adding the division plans to expand robotics programming to more schools in response to the team's success.
