Alberta's police watchdog has concluded its investigation into an RCMP officer who fired a projectile during a standoff on Jan. 12, 2026, and has released its findings to the public, the Police Review Commission said in a government news release dated Oct. 28.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, known as ASIRT, carried out the investigation. The executive director reviewed the evidence and issued a written report setting out findings and conclusions, which is now publicly available.

ASIRT is part of the Police Review Commission, an independent civilian-led agency that investigates potential criminal offences involving law enforcement officers across Alberta, including cases where an officer's actions may have resulted in serious injury or death. The release did not identify the officer, the location of the standoff or the nature of any injuries.

The full report is available through the Police Review Commission.
