Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 6 in Redcliff wrapped up a weekend of 100th anniversary events Sunday by removing a time capsule from Memorial Park.

The branch’s 100th Anniversary Committee “has had a busy weekend and it is not over yet,” the Legion said in a Facebook post Sunday.

Sunday’s program began at 1 p.m. with a short service at the Legion. Those attending were then piped over to Memorial Park for a short ceremony and the removal of the time capsule, and piped back to the Legion for cake, coffee and the unveiling of the capsule.

Students at Parkside School also had a hand in the anniversary. Members of the school’s Leadership Elective contributed to what the school called “Redcliff’s 100th anniversary time capsule.”

The students reflected on “their lives, school, and community in 2026” and created pieces “to share with future generations, capturing what makes Redcliff special,” the school said in a Facebook post.

The Royal Canadian Legion was founded in 1925 and has been marking its centennial with events at branches across the country.
