A pro-Canada advocacy group will stop in Medicine Hat on Sunday to hand out free lawn signs as part of a province-wide bus tour running until Oct. 14, nine days before Albertans vote on a referendum question about separation.

Forever Canadian, which is registered as a referendum third party advertiser, said the Medicine Hat stop is scheduled for 3214 Dunmore Rd SE from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Oct. 11. Signs are first come, first served, though the group is asking people to preregister at forever-canadian.ca to help with planning.

"Please stop by to say hello to Thomas," the group said on its website. The records do not identify Thomas's last name.

The tour is one front of a broader campaign by Forever Canadian ahead of Question 10 on the Oct. 19 referendum ballot, which asks whether Alberta should remain a province of Canada or whether the provincial government should begin the constitutional process toward a binding referendum on separation. Elections Alberta said the results of Question 10 are not binding.

Electors will choose one of two options: Option 1 keeps Alberta in Canada; Option 2 directs the government to start that legal process. Forever Canadian is campaigning for Option 1.

According to the group, a citizen-initiated petition it launched July 30, 2025, gathered 404,293 verified signatures — which it described as 13.6 per cent of Alberta's electors — before Elections Alberta certified it on Dec. 1, 2025. Forever Canadian said the petition required 294,000 physical signatures under rules in effect at the time.

Advance voting for the referendum runs Tuesday, Oct. 13 through Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at any advance voting place in an elector's electoral division. Referendum day is Oct. 19.
