Six Wildfires of Note Force Thousands From Their Homes in B.C.

Six wildfires burning across British Columbia have forced thousands of residents from their homes, as crews battle blazes stretching from the province's northeast to its southern interior.

The Brunswick Creek and Ainslie Creek fires, burning together, and the Bradley Creek fire have triggered some of the largest evacuations, pushing entire communities onto evacuation order or alert as fire crews work to establish containment lines. Provincial officials say hot, dry conditions and shifting winds have made the fires unpredictable, complicating efforts to protect structures.

Further south, the Pear Lake, Tower Creek 2 and Wait Creek fires round out the list of blazes drawing the heaviest response from the BC Wildfire Service. Each has grown significantly in recent days, prompting evacuation alerts for nearby communities and closures of area highways and backcountry recreation sites as a precaution.

Emergency Management BC continues to coordinate evacuee support, including reception centres and temporary lodging, while asking residents in fire-affected regions to stay alert to local government updates. Officials are urging anyone under an evacuation order to leave immediately and those under alert to prepare a go-bag in case conditions worsen.
