Eagle Butte students practise wildland firefighting in field session

Students at Eagle Butte High School trained in wildland firefighting on Thursday, practising hand-tool techniques and fireline construction during an outdoor session, Prairie Rose Public Schools said.

The school wrote on Facebook on Friday that students received hands-on experience with key hand tools, covering proper technique, safety and maintenance before putting the skills to use in the field.

"Building a solid line takes teamwork, endurance, and precision, and our students brought great energy and focus," the school wrote.
